The most important thing is to have homes next to workplaces. Just an idea, but it would improve production rates drastically. Realistically the only necessity they need is food, you could eliminate healthcare buildings with the hagia SOPHIA world wonder, eliminate religion with atheist state, and eliminate entertainment by not building any. Plus all the local necessities they will need like healthcare, food, entertainment, church. If they have to travel to go to work, that could be a month or several months lost on just traveling when they could've been at work already if your homes were built right next door. Any downtime will cost you to lose production value. Well the main game mechanic when it comes industry is to make sure your people are always working. Just have a bunch of bus routes laid out in a hub and spokes model where all the bus routes start in your central downtown location and end in the satellite corners of your island. Build 2~3 banks, set to the primary work mode.ĭon’t build parking garages everywhere - it’s a waste of money. Spam “raid neighbors” from your commando garrison to keep the expectations of your Tropicans low, which will allow you to save money on public services.īuild a customs office ASAP for the bonus to export prices.įulfill small export contracts with all of the trade partners until you get trade contracts with +25% or better prices and then sign large export contracts for your most lucrative exports.īuild 2~3 offices for each office work mode. It should work, and the strategy did work back then, and yet I'm struggling to make money.Īny tip or help would be welcome, thank you very much.Įdit: here are the screenshots of my islandĬannery sector (pineapple farms, 1 cannery)Ĭigar sector (tobacco + cocoa farms, 2 cigar factories)Ĭhocolate sector (sugar farm + 3 factories)ĭo everything you can to maximize liberty (edicts, no propaganda, honest elections, etc) and you won’t need to waste money on a big army (sometimes you can even get away with no army, because there are no rebels). I'm not sure what else I could do, my farms are next to my factories, both supported by nearby neighborhood with full facilities like hospital, church, entertainment avenues. If this is any previous games, I would easily get rich with just half of what I currently have. The cash flow fluctuates so much one moment I'm swimming in cash, the next I'm as poor as Zimbabwe peasants. The one I am playing right now is the chocolate map in which I have 3 industries going on: cannery (2 factories), cigars (2 factories), and boat (1 factory), and yet I only manage to get by. I have been playing campaign maps and keep failing due to massive debt. I have been a veteran to the series since Tropico 1 and no installment IMHO is harder than this.
